HABOUKI a.k.a. HANE 羽箒

several identical feathers to make a “brush” no dust or dirt clings to bird feathers :. pure used to purify furo edge, robuchi, rodan, gotoku, kama no futa, hibashi, etc.; Usually three feathers, carefully tied together, cut at shaft, attached to wood handle, covered with Takekawa, folded and bent to form a hanging handle (different for ryu); tied / white thread;
Wide feathers are: L 0.6.0 (18.2cm)
Narrow feather: L 0.5.7(17.2cm)
Handle: 0.3.0 (9.1cm) Hitotsubane 一つ羽 / kazaribane 荘羽- very rare feathers or very hot season- one feather in mulberry handle (Rikyu-gonomi) or kiri; Birds: haku tsuru 白鶴- white crane, kurozuru 玄鶴-dark crane, washi 鷲-eagle, isowashi 磯鷲-osprey, taka 鷹-hawk, fukuro 梟-owl, nogan 野雁-wild goose, hakucho 白鳥-swan, shichimencho 七面鳥/ karakunicho 唐国鳥 – turkey, seiran 青鸞 argus pheasant, kujaku 孔雀 -peacock, etc.
furo-migiba, right wing/tail and widest side of feather; use wide side Ro- hidariba, left(widest) feather; use narrow side Hashi always go on the narrow side ryobane 両羽 / moroha- central tail feathers : for nakaoki, shin sumi so hibashi are NEVER placed down together with feather
Mizuya feathers
TSUKAMIBOUKI, mizuya “bunch of feathers” white- crane or black; individual feathers stuck into straw handle, wound with bamboo sheath and white string
ZABAKI, right swan’s whole wing; used for room (za) sweeping after Shozumi only; left wing used for Gyakugatte KOBANE / kohaboki-used with Chabako; Ishiusu; Chahakibako; used in haigata, hiire, etc. Different from kodogu
